It’s strange how one thought can lead to something that’s totally different. Just the other day, for no particular reason, the phrase ‘Carbon based life forms have no sense of fun’ sprung to mind. A line from one of the radio broadcasts of ‘A Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy’.
It was the phrase ‘Carbon based life forms’ that prompted me to think of other based life forms, specifically Silicon based life forms. After all there is more than enough sand on the world’s beaches for such life to evolve.
Then the penny dropped, there already exists Silicon based life forms, after a fashion. There’s Grok, ChatGPT and Claude AI to name but a few, masquerading (?) as Artificial Intelligence! And they are reproducing at an alarming rate!
