An RAF Signals Unit are researching their involvement in "Forward Scatter" tests conducted in the mid 50's by the MARCONI Company, notably headed by Mr Millington and G Isted, which exploited the effects of the ionosphere on VHF communications.

Conducted between May 1955 and December 1957, a series of transmissions from an aerial set up on the Rock of Gibraltar where conducted as part of what we believe was an admiralty contract. A number of organisation's where involved in the GIBRALTAR tests, including 591 Signals Unit who happen to be still active as part of the Royal Air Force and now operating in their seventh decade (https://www.591suassociation.co.uk/)

Any information on these tests that can be shared, on the MARCONI activities around them, and how this work influenced Ionospheric scatter technology and equipment marketed by the company would be very much appreciated.
